The Asian American Studies Center, founded in 1969, has become the foremost national research center on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

The center has sought to bridge the educational, social, political, and cultural concerns of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community with the overall mission of UCLA through research and creative endeavors.

Mission and Goals

Its mission is to interpret, define, and forge the separate and collective identities of Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage, and to integrate multidisciplinary approaches into the understanding of significant historical and contemporary Asian American and Pacific Islander issues.
