An initiative of UCLA’s Department of Urban Planning that promotes collaborative work by local community leaders and students.
Services Provided
An opportunity for community and labor leaders and activists, regardless of their educational backgrounds, to join with Urban Planning and other graduate students in researching and strategizing around community issues.
Who We Serve
A call for applications goes out each summer/fall to select participants. Community participants receive the same access to faculty advisors, library services, and other academic resources and privileges granted to full-time students.
Mission and Goals
By bringing together labor and community leaders and activists with urban planning students, the program provides these community-based activists with a forum in which to study issues and develop skills required to influence policy, and creates a collaborative space for problem-solving and strategy-building
