Empowering children from all backgrounds to explore their potential in STEM fields through hands-on experimentation and discovery.

Services Provided

Exploring Your Universe, or EYU for short, is the largest annual graduate student-led science fair held at UCLA Court of Science. This event is held on the first Sunday of November every year with over 10,000 attendees, 75+ science booths, and around 15 science talks.

Who We Serve

The event is free and open to the public, serving K-12 students in the Greater Los Angeles area, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. We collaborate with Title 1 schools in the region to provide lunch and transportation for the event.

Mission and Goals

Unite UCLA’s STEM community together to inspire K-12+ kids, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, with fun and interactive science demonstrations and experiments.

I am very proud to support EYU because it exposes young minds to the wonders of science in a fun, interactive way. We must continue to inspire young students to pursue STEM careers so the next generation of scientists can solve the world’s most challenging problems.

— David Stephens, UCLA Alumnus and EYU Supporter

Thanks to our dedicated student volunteers and a growing list of generous donors, I’m happy to say that we are having a meaningful impact on the science and education of students in the Los Angeles area.

— Miguel Garcia-Garibay, dean of UCLA’s division of physical sciences
