LAERI produces high-quality, independent research that informs district leaders’ efforts to improve students’ educational experiences and outcomes. LAERI’s affiliates collaborate with educational leaders throughout the research process, from developing research questions to interpreting results, to ensure that the research is useful for decision-making.

Mission and Goals
LAERI’s mission is to improve Los Angeles students’ educational experiences and outcomes by bringing researchers and practitioners together to collaborate on important educational challenges.
Impact Statement
Since 2012, LAERI and LAUSD have collaborated on over a dozen, grant-funded research projects to support district leaders’ efforts to improve students’ educational experiences and outcomes. LAERI-affiliated researchers come from multiple academic disciplines and departments.
LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said he plans to act on the findings. … he plans to pass on the results not only to high school principals, math teachers and counselors, but also to parents, who need to know about the advantages of a fourth year of math.
