Impact Statement
VIPS is a partnership between UCLA and the Los Angeles and Pasadena school districts that prepares historically underrepresented students in 11 high schools to become competitively eligible for admission to UCLA and other flagship universities, and to encourage pursuit of graduate and professional education using a social justice framework and holistic approach. Since 2005, VIPS has served approximately 600 students—all of which have graduated high school; 95% attend a four-year college or university. Of these, 55% enrolled in a University of California (UC) school, with 51% of all VIPS scholars accepted into UCLA. VIPS has retained 90% of the scholars that attend UCLA.
