Community Partnerships and the Office of Government & Community Relations
The programs and resources listed on this site have a wide variety of campus sponsors, UCLA Government and Community Relations has gathered and published many of our campus-based initiatives that offer free services to the community. Assembling over 250 programs and over 1,000 community partners throughout the Southland, we invite you to explore UCLA’s community footprint in the greater Los Angeles region. We seek to amplify the numerous ways in which our students, staff and faculty contribute to improving the lives and livelihoods of our communities every day.
As you navigate the website you can search by keyword or program name, apply filters that highlight programs by category, campus departments, legislative districts and partner types such as schools, community centers, parks, health clinics and so much more. Whether you seek to discover the “big picture” or find out specifics about a particular location, UCLA’s impact can be demonstrated in a multitude of ways.
We expect this comprehensive database and its snapshots of individual programs to be useful in many ways.
- Community groups can find potential partners, sponsors and funding.
- A customized resource for local, state and federal government officials and staff to view programs by district, and see how specific constituents benefit.
- Individuals and groups on campus can discover related efforts and interests, enabling them to avoid duplication and pool resources.
Some useful definitions:
Community Programs (250+): Campus-based initiatives that impact, benefit, or provide free services and resources to the greater Los Angeles community. Community Programs are headquartered on campus and some run additional Projects off and on campus to serve specific needs of the community. Projects focus on a specific issue/field and serve a targeted audience.
The institutes and centers listed provide research that can help shape policy. As one of the world’s top research universities, UCLA has the intellectual capital and extensive research facilities necessary to tackle society’s most challenging issues. And as a public research university, we take seriously our mission to develop solutions that improve the quality of life in our community, our country and around the world.
Community Partners (1000+): Community-based organizations that partner with UCLA and serve as the physical location of Programs and Projects in the greater community for the delivery of services. These sites include schools, community centers, parks, institutes, non-profits, or government-affiliated institutions. They are often referred to as “partner sites.”
